Five Oh? Oh, I get it.

If you ask the people who actually know me and occasionally hang out with me you’ll find that I am likely to be a somewhat boring individual by many standards. I drive the speed limit, I put trash in it’s proper receptacle, I cross at the corner (cross on green not in between), I have a fanatical avoidance of drinking and driving, and I don’t do drugs (regardless of how much I may joke about it).

Part of this comes from growing up with my grandmother. I have often joked that I grew up in the 1950s. I was pretty much isolated from a lot of ‘bad’ influences. Our farm was pretty far away from anyone else. It wouldn’t have made much more difference if I had lived in town as my hometown would have given Mayberry a run for it’s money.

I grew up watching The Andy Griffith Show, I Love Lucy, The Lone Ranger, Batman (yes, the Adam West one) and Superman. I guess since I didn’t have too many other influences except the sanitized, sanctified view of American life presented on television it maybe warped my thought processes a little. I grew up believing America was always the good guys and the good guys always win. I was taught to respect authority and accept that those in power were there to act in our best interests. But above all else I was taught FOLLOW THE RULES.

Then I left the farm.

Tech Assist

February 9th, 2010 | by dirty saint

I hate Windows. The operating system, not the things that let you see outside. Sometimes I hate them too, but not at this very moment. I’ve been refraining from beating my laptop Office Space style since about 8am. Brand new laptop and its worked everywhere, home and at my office. But today it decides it doesn’t want to connect to the Internet, oh it’ll ping the Internet just fine, but kick me in the nads when I try to web browse. I keep getting this “www.microsoft.com is not set up to establish a connection on port “World Wide Web service (HTTP)” with this computer”. Well why the f**k not? You didn’t have a problem with it this morning when I was at home or when I was at my office? If it was Mac it would work, yes I know this. It’s 10:27am and despite what I used to consider computer genius, I feel like an idiot trying to figure out what’s wrong. Google’s no help, just links to a bunch of people crying just like me, with so called tech savvy people giving them bullshit answers even I know wont work, just so they could add to their post count. Why would someone telling you they can ping websites but not search need to run “ipconfig /all” and check their IPs? Obviously dipshit the IP is correct and functioning if they can ping websites. One guy asked if the computer was on AC power. I wanted to register for that website just to tell him to delete his account. I’m giving up and will just wait until I get home. I refuse to call the IT guy here, I don’t like dealing with him, and plus I don’t think he likes people.

On a good note tomorrow is my birthday, and after a phone call this morning, I already know it’s going to be a long day at work. The birthday present I got for myself won’t be here until April 13th, and that’s what I’m looking forward too the most. I have to get around to finding the two trades of Armory Wars. I forgot to mention in my last blog that on top of being awesome and having their CDs tell one huge amazing story, Coheed & Cambria also released them as comics. I want those, and will have those.

This year is going to be a good one for entertainment. Final Fantasy 13 comes out next month. Movie-wise, The Next Karate Kid movie is going to be awesome, Iron Man 2 comes out in May and from the movie poster War Machine is going to make an appearance. Freddy Kruger remake is in the works as well, and although I’m not a big fan of horror movies, I may go and see it. Hopefully there will be a blog about KatsuCon soon. Looks like it’s going to be amazing. I have my costume for AMA being commissioned right now. I wanted so bad to cosplay Kamen Rider but I cant find anyone to make the damn costume. Well, I should be finding something productive to do since I can’t surf the Internet. Thanks for visiting Reality Amuck! Be sure to check out the Archives!
