I watched the new disaster flick "2012" this weekend. I don't want to give away any thing or spoil the movie for anyone, but the world ends.

I'm always amazed how worked up the general population tends to get about these type of things and worse, how Hollywood and television try to work us all up about them.

As we get closer to the magic date of December 21, 2012, I'm sure the History Channel will be running 2012 documentaries around the clock (with limited commercial interruptions) in order to keep the general populace in a state of near panic. What will make this end of the world scenario even better is that 2012 will be an election year. By the time we get to December 21st, I'm pretty sure most folks will be so disgusted with two years worth of politics being jammed down our throats that we will welcome the end of the world.

But what if the world does end in 2012? That means the current President will be the last sitting President, ever. It means that whoever gets elected in November 2012 will never take office in January 2013. So if you believe the world ends in 2012 why even bother to vote? Even if your guy (or gal) wins it won't matter. So why waste your time. Then again, considering the general demographic that believes the world ends in 2012, we would all be better off if they did stay home on Election Day.
